It’s already January and I haven’t done another blogpost yet. I’ve done plenty of projects for the holidays. I’ve always liked the garlands I’ve seen all over the web and I’ve made several different types for presents. They’re really fun to make, and I can be as colorful as I like. Today I wasn’t quite sure what to make next, another garland (for my living room) or start the quilt I’ve been wanting to make.
So instead I started organizing my sewing things, of which there are rather a lot. I also have a box standing by for the Goodwill and I’ve reluctantly been putting some things in there. I have an enormous collection of wooden thread spools. I’ve used them as closures on bags and as Christmas ornaments, and for just looking ornamental in a big bowl and vase.
I’ve found them over a period of several years mostly at yard- and estate sales, sometimes by the box full.
That’s also where a lot of my other sewing notions come from. I love to find interesting old things. I also came across my needlebook stash, they are just adorable. I sometimes wish for a bigger house than my little cottage just to be able to properly showcase my collection and projects, but then again, it’s so cute and I love living here so I just do the best I can. Luckily I don’t mind if it gets a little crowded, it just makes it very cozy.
